Supporting businesses in rural communities helps create opportunities for business growth and good paying jobs for the middle class and those looking to join it. Thanks to an investment of more than $233,000 from the Government of Canada, the Lighthouse and Beach Motel (English only) operated by Galbraith PEI Holdings Ltd. in Souris West, PEI, is increasing the size of its rooms and equipping each with state-of-the-art amenities to provide its guests the comforts of home.

The funding was announced today by the Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Member of Parliament for Cardigan, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).

The funding, provided through ACOA’s Business Development Program, will support renovations that will enable the motel to offer its guests high-speed wireless Internet, quality furnishings and updated grounds to enhance their experience.

This investment builds on commitments made by the Government of Canada and the four Atlantic provinces to drive economic growth in the region through the Atlantic Growth Strategy, which supports strategic investments in initiatives that build on our regional advantages, strengths and resources.
