Dartmouth Area Rowers will Benefit from Expansion of Boathouse

$36,400 from the Government of Canada will support renovation to increase boat storage space

Competitive and recreational rowers at the North Star Rowing Club will soon benefit from a modernized and expanded boathouse as a result of $36,400 in support from the Government of Canada.
The funding was announced today by Darren Fisher Member of Parliament for Dartmouth-Cole Harbour on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).
The funds will support capital improvements to the club’s boathouse, including an expansion to increase boat storage space. Formed more than 80 years ago, the North Star Rowing Club is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization, that provides programming for youth, seniors, para-rowers and recreational users.
This investment is being allocated under the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150), a $300‑million fund that was established to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday through investments in the community spaces that bring Canadians together. Of that amount, up to $33.2 million is being invested in Atlantic Canada.
