Kentville families will benefit from improved community spaces for a better quality of life
News Release
$100,500 from the Government of Canada will support expansion of skatepark
October 31, 2017 – Kentville, NS – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
Kentville families will benefit from safer places for their children to play and improved places to socialize and exercise as a result of a $100,500 contribution from the Government of Canada.
The funding was announced today by Scott Brison, President of the Treasury Board of Canada and Member of Parliament for Kings-Hants, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).
The funding will allow the Town of Kentville, in cooperation with the Kentville Skatepark Association, to proceed with the first phase of a plan to expand Memorial Park to include a state-of-the-art, permanent concrete skatepark for use by skateboarders, bikers and scooter users. Additional support for the $550,000 project is being provided by the Town of Kentville, Province of Nova Scotia, Municipality of the County of Kings, and the Kentville Skatepark Association.
This investment is being allocated under the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150), a $300‑million fund that was established to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday through investments in the community spaces that bring Canadians together. Of that amount, up to $33.2 million is being invested in Atlantic Canada.

And there’s no better way to mark this milestone than to celebrate the places that bring us together—the places that allow us to stay fit, unwind and connect with our friends and neighbours. That’s how we establish the bonds of common understanding and friendship in a country where people come from every corner of the world. The values of openness, diversity and inclusion that define all Canadians are forged in our community spaces.”
