Evolving technology is helping to drive business innovation and build a diverse, healthy economy. That is why the Government of Canada is supporting the expansion and modernization of Amherst-based Access Labels so it can maximize productivity, accommodate future growth and increase opportunities to spread out into specialty markets requiring more complex print products.

Bill Casey, Member of Parliament for Cumberland-Colchester, was onsite today touring the facilities at Access Labels when he announced a $1,000,000 Government of Canada investment in the company. He made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).

The repayable contribution is being provided through ACOA’s Business Development Program, which helps small and medium-sized enterprises expand and modernize to improve competiveness. The company will use the funds to purchase a state-of-the-art printing press and to construct a 7,200-square foot expansion to its existing facilities. This focused investment will enable the company to develop new markets for its products.

This investment builds on commitments made by the Government of Canada and the four Atlantic Provinces to drive economic growth in the region through the Atlantic Growth Strategy, which involves targeted actions to create opportunities for all Atlantic Canadians, support long-term growth and position the region to capitalize on emerging opportunities in a variety of areas, including trade.
