Prism Lighting Group™ expanding markets with innovative lighting solutions

May 23, 2018 – Dartmouth, NS – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency

Innovative solutions that contribute to a low carbon economy are good for the environment and create sustainable business opportunities. That is why the Government of Canada is supporting Prism Lighting Group to develop clean LED lighting technologies that will increase energy efficiency and safety, reduce waste and provide the potential for “smart” control of lighting environments at home and at work.

Darren Fisher, Member of Parliament for Dartmouth-Cole Harbour, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), today announced a $336,565 repayable contribution through ACOA’s Business Development Program to help Prism develop and market clean, low-voltage LED lighting solutions to residential and commercial distributors.

The funding will enable the company to carry out product design, quality control, certification, and to undertake market research and sales activities.

Prism specializes in affordable, energy efficient, durable LED lights that emit up to 80% less heat than traditional halogen lights. The company made its name in the demanding tradeshow and exhibits lighting market, and is now seeking to leverage that expertise to serve a broader customer base in Canada and abroad. Prism’s product line focuses on sustainability, and provides advantages in efficiency, ease of installation and integration directly into the built environment.

This project builds on the Government of Canada and the four Atlantic Provinces’ commitment to drive economic growth in Atlantic Canada through the Atlantic Growth Strategy. The strategy involves targeted actions to support clean technology projects that will help businesses in Atlantic Canada expand into new markets by increasing their export potential, and enabling them to hire qualified sales, marketing and technical expertise.
