June 12, 2018 – Sydney, NS – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)

Esports gamers and professional agencies, including tournament organizations, are looking for high quality, shared online experiences that happen in real time. This rapidly growing segment of the entertainment and software industry is developing new tools and platforms to improve content, delivery, and the overall gaming experience. That is why the Government of Canada is investing $500,000 in Ubique Networks Inc. to expand the commercialization of the company’s Swarmio eSports Platform that delivers a fully automated and lagless gaming experience for amateur and professional gamers.

The funding was announced today by The Honourable Mark Eyking, Member of Parliament for Sydney-Victoria, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).

Ubique’s Swarmio technology levels the playing field for gamers, located anywhere in the world, by ensuring fair play at the highest level of competition, where mere milliseconds determine eSport tournament winners. The Swarmio eSports Platform also offers advanced automated tools that enable tournament organizers host massive tournaments with ease.

This conditionally repayable contribution, through ACOA’s Business Development Program, supports Ubique’s ability to execute its marketing strategy by creating 10 new positions to assist with commercialization activities, upgrading its data center services, and purchasing the necessary equipment needed to service its new markets.

Today’s investment builds on commitments made by the Government of Canada and the four Atlantic Provinces to drive economic growth in the region through the Atlantic Growth Strategy, which supports strategic investments in initiatives that build on the region’s competitive advantages, such as its strong export potential, growing innovation network, and skilled workforce.
