Alert Geomatics Surveying Global Opportunities for Land-Based Monitoring
News release
Dartmouth-based company developing marketing plan to aid product diversification
July 30, 2018 – Dartmouth, NS – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
Helping Atlantic Canada businesses succeed in technology-driven global markets is key to generating income, spurring growth and strengthening the middle class and those seeking to join it. That is why the Government of Canada is helping Alert Geomatics, a division of Xeos Technologies Inc., to develop and execute a marketing plan to support the export and sale of its new line of precision geomatics monitoring products.
Darren Fisher, Member of Parliament for Dartmouth – Cole Harbour, announced a repayable contribution of $273,750 on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA). The funding is through ACOA’s Business Development Program, which supports small and medium-sized companies capitalizing on innovations to become more competitive and develop new export markets.
The assistance will allow the company to diversity from its primary line of ocean technology products, and market a new line of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers for land-based applications.GNSS receivers measure the distance from the receiver’s position to multiple orbiting satellites, which locate the precise location of ground surfaces and land-based structures.
The implementation of a targeted marketing campaign, augmented by trade shows and product demonstrations to highlight the technology’s full capabilities, will help the company identify new export markets and increase sales. The project will result in one new full-time, highly skilled job and help maintain 13 other full-time positions.
The investment builds on the commitments made by the Government of Canada and the four Atlantic Provinces to drive economic growth in the region through the Atlantic Growth Strategy. The strategy supports strategic investments in initiatives that build on the region’s competitive advantages, such as its strong export potential and skilled labour, to expand business activities between the region and international markets.
