Government support helps Vision 360 Productions host event for the first time in Canada

October 10, 2018 – Burin, NL – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency

Arts-based entrepreneurs and businesses have far-reaching benefits on our economy, our society and our culture as a whole. Helping Atlantic Canadian artists to find new markets and gain the business skills they need to build strong and sustainable careers is key to the continued diversity and vibrancy of Atlantic Canada’s cultural sector.

With assistance from the governments of Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador, Vision 360 Productions will present the first-ever “Live at Heart” international music showcase to take place in Canada. This event, which originated in Europe, will be held on the Burin Peninsula from October 10-14, 2018. It will provide an opportunity for Newfoundland and Labrador musicians to meet with industry representatives to develop business skills and identify new markets. This event will also enable local artists to showcase their talents to an international audience.

Churence Rogers, Member of Parliament for Bonavista-Burin-Trinity, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), today announced an investment of $40,000 for this event from ACOA’s Business Development Program. Mark Browne, MHA for Placentia West – Bellevue, on behalf of the Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Newfoundland and Labrador Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation announced $17,000 in provincial funding.

These investments build on commitments made by the Government of Canada and the four Atlantic Provinces to drive economic growth in the region through the Atlantic Growth Strategy. The strategy focuses on building a strong culture of innovation by supporting creative and entrepreneurial people, and maximizing opportunities for export growth.
