Inspiring Young Entrepreneurs at the EVEIL PME forum: Atlantic-Quebec edition 2019

News release

February 22, 2019 – Moncton, NB – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency

Nurturing entrepreneurship and the development of start-ups is vitally important to Canada’s economy. A healthy start-up community in Atlantic Canada can help drive innovation, economic growth, and the creation of high-quality jobs in the region. By nurturing entrepreneurship in new graduates and post-secondary students, we are laying the foundation for economic prosperity in the decades to come.

On February 22 and 23, 2019, the Conseil économique du Nouveau-Brunswick (CÉNB) is hosting an Atlantic and Quebec edition of its entrepreneurship awareness forum in Moncton, targeting grade 12 and post-secondary francophone students.  Close to 200 participants are attending the forum to learn valuable insights about choosing entrepreneurship as a valid career path.

The Government of Canada, through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), is providing a non-repayable contribution of $63,015 toward the forum, while the Province of New Brunswick is contributing $20,000.

The Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Health and MP for Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA, announced the funding today.

The Government of Canada is making smart investments that will create good, middle-class jobs in our country. It is helping small and medium-sized businesses to start-up, expand or modernize and supporting not-for-profit organizations to fuel business growth. Support for this project is one way the Government of Canada is working to achieve its Atlantic Growth Strategy outcome of long-term economic prosperity in the region.
