Manufacturing Company Reducing Emissions for Forestry Industry

News release

May 23, 2019 – Balmoral, NB – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency

Innovation is critical to the economic success of Atlantic Canada. Businesses that innovate increase their resiliency, growth, and competitiveness in the global marketplace. Developing industry-leading innovations creates export opportunities that generate wealth in our region and employment in our communities.

To this end, A. Landry Fabrication is developing a new model of its Landrich tree harvester for the forestry industry. Updates to the harvester include a new diesel engine that minimizes fuel consumption and reduces emissions. The project will create three new full-time jobs, with the potential to create 15-30 more full-time jobs by 2021.

The Government of Canada, through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), is providing a conditionally repayable contribution of $500,000 for this project.

René Arseneault, Member of Parliament for Madawaska-Restigouche, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA, made the announcement today.

The Government of Canada is making smart investments that will create good, middle-class jobs in our country. It is helping small and medium-sized businesses to start up, expand or modernize and supporting not-for-profit organizations to fuel business growth. Support for this project is one way the Government of Canada is working to achieve its Atlantic Growth Strategy outcome of long-term economic prosperity in the region.
