New office at COVE features larger production area, enabling company to expand, innovate and develop

• More than half of Canada’s $30-billion ocean economy is anchored in Atlantic Canada, where ocean industries account for over one-third of all ocean-related jobs in the country.

• MacArtney Canada, established in Dartmouth in 2016, is part of the international MacArtney Underwater Technology Group, headquartered in Denmark, with operations in the United Kingdom, Norway, France, the Netherlands, Germany, United States, Canada, Australia, China and Singapore.

• The ocean technology company has grown from two employees in 2016 to seven. It anticipates adding another one or two employees within the next year.

• MacArtney Canada’s new workspace at COVE has room for research and development, manufacturing and assembly, as well as sales and administration. Ships will be able to moor 50 metres from its doors, making it easier to install the company’s large launch and recovery equipment.

• MacArtney Canada Ltd is receiving a $125,000 repayable contribution through the Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (REGI) program to go towards machinery, equipment and fixtures.

• The Business Scale-up and Productivity stream of the REGI program supports businesses at various stages of development, including high-growth firms, to accelerate their growth, help them scale-up and enhance their productivity and competitiveness in both domestic and global markets.

• The REGI program continues to build on the objectives of the Government of Canada’s Innovation and Skills Plan.
