MGM Automated Doors set to expand and create new jobs
May 26, 2021 · Dartmouth, Nova Scotia · Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)
Investing in Atlantic Canadian small- and medium-sized businesses will protect jobs, help companies grow and keep the economy going. That is why the Government of Canada is supporting MGM Automated Doors, a commercial entryway manufacturer, facing growing demand for its products.
Enlarging production facility enables company to hire new workers
Darren Fisher, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages (ACOA) and Member of Parliament for Dartmouth – Cole Harbour, today announced a repayable contribution of $600,000 to MGM Automated Doors to purchase specialized advanced manufacturing machinery. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages.
The contribution will support the purchase of an automated glass-tempering furnace, a computer numerical control (CNC) cutting machine and a waterjet, enabling MGM to create all of its door components in-house. The new equipment will increase project capacity, improve efficiency, and allow the company to expand its product offerings and markets.
Today’s announcement further demonstrates the Government of Canada’s commitment to help businesses grow, reach new markets, innovate and contribute to Atlantic Canada’s economic recovery.

“The pandemic has interrupted many aspects of life, including trade and supply chains, often delaying construction projects. Assisting companies with capital to purchase specialized equipment that helps them create products in-house and expand their capacity creates well-paying, skilled jobs here in Atlantic Canada.”
- Darren Fisher, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages (ACOA) and Member of Parliament for Dartmouth – Cole Harbour
“In June 2020, we expanded into architectural aluminum which has helped us grow our operations to Newfoundland and Labrador as well as other parts of North America. This is a very exciting time as we have grown to 16 employees and are looking to add at least 10 more by 2022. We are also establishing a new 21,000 square-foot facility in Stewiacke to fabricate and temper glass for our customers with locally produced materials. Our goal is to bring in modern equipment to facilitate the need for architectural glass in Atlantic Canada, which will help our customers’ bottom lines and reduce building times.”
