As the economy evolves, many small and medium-sized enterprises in Atlantic Canada are embracing technology to become more productive and competitive. With new technology, businesses can create good jobs and produce top-quality products, leading to growth opportunities at home and abroad.
That is why the Government of Canada is investing to help Bourque Industrial Ltd. in Saint John purchase advanced equipment, boosting productivity and manufacturing capacity.
Federal investment supports company’s growth
Today, Wayne Long, Member of Parliament for Saint John–Rothesay, announced a repayable contribution of $178,450 to Bourque Industrial Ltd. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for ACOA.
This investment will allow Bourque Industrial Ltd. to purchase advanced machinery and equipment. These upgrades are expected to increase production efficency by 25 percent. The project will also help complete fencing required for a secured facility, which will attract new contract opportunities.
Today’s announcement further demonstrates the Government of Canada’s commitment to help businesses grow, reach new markets and contribute to Atlantic Canada’s economic recovery.

“As we move forward, funding businesses that contribute to a resilient economic recovery and investing in job creators is essential. Bourque Industrial is a family run business that has been contributing to Saint John for more than three generations, their state-of-art manufacturing is supporting jobs and our COVID economic recovery. This funding, through ACOA’s Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (REGI) program, will support the innovation, productivity, and the continued success of this multi-generational business.”

“Productivity and competitiveness are cornerstones for growth in any organization and because of the support we are receiving from ACOA, we are accomplishing just that. Overall, with this project, the equipment we have purchased will no doubt make us more productive and competitive in various areas of our business. By automating supporting cranes it will allow us to utilize labour where it is needed most; and by securing our facility and surrounding property we will have new opportunities that we have not been able to take advantage of in the past. I want to thank ACOA and the federal government for the help they are providing us and their continued support
