The Government of Canada invests $695,000 in five projects to support business growth in Cape Breton.

McFadgen's Bakery Ltd. | McFadgen’s Bakery in Glace Bay is receiving $300,000 to expand its operations to meet growing demand from several regional and national contracts. The increase in capacity will be accomplished through the purchase of new production and wrapping equipment as well as upgrades to enhance efficiency and comply with strict food safety standards. The project is expected to create up to six new jobs. The company will also receive $150,000 to upgrade their cold storage facility in Edwardsville. McFadgen’s will install condensers, compressors, lighting, lift trucks, pallet racking and freezer doors at its Sydport cold storage facility as well as build a new shipping and receiving aisle for easier loading. The improvements are necessary after McFadgen’s obtained new national commercial contracts. This project is expected to maintain 86 jobs. |
