Saint John Energy leading the way in energy innovation

A clean environment and a healthy economy go hand in hand. Canadian businesses and organizations are doing their part to protect the environment while embracing new opportunities for growth.

The Government of Canada is helping Saint John Energy (SJE) lead the way in Atlantic Canada. By effectively using sustainable and renewable sources of energy, SJE is playing an important role in shaping Canada’s future economy.

Federal investment supports clean growth

Today, Wayne Long, Member of Parliament for Saint John – Rothesay, announced an investment of $620,000 in SJE through ACOA’s Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (REGI) program. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for ACOA.

The funding will help SJE enhance its technology and grow its award-winning smart grid by installing IT infrastructure and improving communications systems. These advancements will strengthen SJE’s position as a smart-grid leader providing Saint John residents with cleaner, more sustainable energy.

Today’s announcement further demonstrates the Government of Canada’s commitment to fostering a thriving, inclusive, and growing network of organizations in Atlantic Canada that are taking action on climate change.
