Canada’s arts and culture organizations are important contributors to the economy, drawing tourists and creating jobs in communities across the country. The Government of Canada is investing in the Interdisciplinary Arts Association of New Brunswick Inc. (ArtsLink NB) to support entrepreneurship and growth within the arts community.

Programming to help provide business skills and training

Today, Wayne Long, Member of Parliament for Saint John–Rothesay, announced total investments of $152,905 through ACOA’s Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (REGI) program for ArtsLink NB. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for ACOA.

The Honourable Tammy Scott-Wallace, Minister of Tourism, Heritage and Culture also announced contributions of $161,870 on behalf of the Province of New Brunswick.

This support is helping ArtsLink NB deliver its CATAPULT program, an intensive eight-week business accelerator made specifically for the needs of New Brunswick's artists and creative entrepreneurs. These investments also helped ArtsLink NB host the Atlantic Art Symposium in Saint John, giving artists an opportunity to network and learn from other artists and art professionals.

Together, these projects will foster entrepreneurship in the arts sector by helping artists learn how to market their products through business and skills training, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

Today’s announcement further demonstrates the Government of Canada’s commitment to support organizations that are helping Atlantic Canadian entrepreneurs to innovate, adapt and grow.

-   The Honourable Tammy Scott-Wallace, Minister Tourism, Heritage and Culture

“ArtsLink was founded in 2009 as a resource organization for arts professionals in NB. Part of that work was to contextualize for government, the public, and the arts sector itself the value that arts and culture bring to the province's health and vibrancy, and the contributions of arts and culture to economic growth. Receiving support from several different departments and levels of government speaks to the shared understanding we all have of the vital role artists have in New Brunswick."
