February 17, 2023 · Central Hainesville, New Brunswick · Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)

Atlantic Canadian tourism organizations and operators are focused on delivering world-class tourism experiences. The Government of Canada  invested in an expansion to the Crabbe Mountain lodge so the resort can welcome more visitors during the 2023 Canada Winter Games and throughout the year.

Expanded lodge will facilitate year-round offerings and meet future needs

Today, the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, announced that a repayable contribution of $1,000,000 allowed for the expansion of the Crabbe Mountain lodge as the resort prepares to host the alpine ski, para alpine and mogul events at this year’s Winter Games, which open February 18.

The newly-expanded facility, which is almost triple in size, includes accessible washrooms, new conference and event spaces, increased seating and changing areas, and improved food services. In addition to hosting athletes, volunteers and spectators for the 2023 Canada Winter Games, the upgraded lodge will support an extended tourism season with the potential for year-round offerings, such as hiking and mountain biking.

Today’s announcement demonstrates the Government of Canada’s commitment to support Atlantic Canadian tourism organizations and operators as they continue to grow their businesses and position the region as a destination of choice.
