Pokeshaw & Black Rock Recreation Council Inc. will benefit from renovations to help deepen connections to people and places

News release

August 2, 2023 · Pokeshaw, New Brunswick · Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)

Canadian communities flourish when they have safe, welcoming public spaces where people can come together to connect, engage, and participate in recreational activities.  These vibrant, interactive spaces are important for health and wellbeing in every corner of our country. Breathing new life into our communities also stimulates local economies, creates jobs, and improves the quality of life for Canadians.

Today, Serge Cormier, Member of Parliament for Acadie-Bathurst, announced an investment of $304,000 through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF) for Pokeshaw & Black Rock Recreation Council Inc. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA.

This support will help Pokeshaw & Black Rock Recreation Council Inc. renovate the Pokeshaw Hall and enhance the surrounding landscaping. The project will allow the council to offer more programs and services to its rural community members and provide easier access to Pokeshaw beach.

In March, the Public Policy Forum published a report that confirms that Atlantic Canada’s economy is bustling and the region is poised for exponential growth. Today’s announcement highlights how the Government of Canada is contributing to this momentum - strengthing our communities, creating new opportunities, and setting the stage for a strong, sustainable future.
