July 16, 2024 · Moncton, New Brunswick · Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)
Atlantic Canada boasts a thriving startup scene, with 816 startups in 2023 and growing. These startups drive innovation, attract investment, and strengthen the region's economy. Supporting this growth is a top priority for the Government of Canada, as it is crucial for creating jobs and boosting economic resilience.
Today, the Honourable Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA, praised delegates from 60 Atlantic Canadian companies, business accelerators and incubators for showcasing the region’s dynamic startup ecosystem at Startupfest 2024 in Montreal, Quebec, from July 10-12.
Led by Startup Atlantic, representatives from the Atlantic Canadian delegation promoted the region as a hub for startups and an excellent place to thrive. Participants also networked with decision makers, mentors, investors and fellow entrepreneurs; and took part in learning sessions and competitions - opportunities that both inspire innovation and help build successful businesses.
By making strategic investments that help showcase the startup ecosystem in Atlantic Canada, the Government of Canada is taking real action to sustain the momentum the region is experiencing, strengthening its competitive position on the international stage and as destination of choice for top-tier talent and companies from around the globe.
