Backgrounder: Federal investment primes Western Newfoundland for year-round adventures

The Government of Canada is investing over $1.1 million in five tourism-related projects on the west coast of the island portion of Newfoundland and Labrador. Funding will be used to upgrade and complete trail systems and boost tourism by enhancing year-round visitor outdoor experiences.

| Cabox Geopark Inc. | Complete the initial phase of upgrades for Humber Valley to Man in the Mountain trail in Corner Brook. | Cabox Geopark Inc. | Undertake Phase 3 of establishing a world-class Geopark in the Bay of Islands region. The project will enable Cabox Geopark to complete the official UNESCO Global Geopark application process, continue the development of park assets, as well as develop educational and promotional activities to attract visitors to the region. | $196,827 Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (REGI) |
| West Coast Cycling Association Inc. | Build two trails within the Lower Humber Valley trail network, which will complete a contained network of trails and introduce trail counters (installed in key locations) to more effectively monitor trail usage.
