CBSA officers find suspected cocaine and marijuana at the Toronto Pearson International Airport

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced today a significant seizure of over 7 kg of suspected cocaine and over 8 kg of suspected marijuana, at the Toronto Pearson International Airport.
On November 28, 2015, CBSA officers monitoring the offload of luggage from an aircraft originating from Jamaica noticed a suspicious-looking brown suitcase. After opening the suitcase, officers found two backpacks filled with brick-shaped bundles. All the bundles were subsequently tested and found to contain suspected cocaine and marijuana
The suspected cocaine and marijuana were turned over to Peel Regional Police.
Quick Facts
- From January to the end of November 2015, the CBSA in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) made 144 cocaine seizures totalling over 700 kg.
- For the same period in 2015, the CBSA in the GTA made 68 seizures of marijuana totalling over 66 kg.
