CBSA stops drunk drivers, guns and prohibited weapons at the southern Ontario border

News Release

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is pleased to share highlights from its border crossings in southern Ontario in January. CBSA officers protected Canadians by arresting impaired drivers and preventing guns and prohibited weapons from entering the country.

 

Six guns and twelve prohibited weapons were seized at the ports of entry. As well, five impaired drivers were arrested. On two separate occasions, undeclared two-carat diamond rings were seized with large penalties paid.

 

A jail sentence was imposed on a man convicted of dropping a firearm out the door of his vehicle while proceeding for a secondary inspection.
