Child porn charges laid against New Brunswick man
News Release
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit of the Integrated Halifax Regional Police/RCMP Criminal Investigation Division announced that charges have been laid against a New Brunswick man for the alleged possession of child pornography and smuggling.
On August 16, 2016 CBSA officers and investigators, along with members of the ICE unit, discovered child pornography while searching a vessel. Child pornography was discovered on an electronic device and later determined to be in the possession of Julien Marceau, a crewmember of the vessel.
Following this discovery, CBSA officers arrested Marceau and turned him over to Halifax police. CBSA has since charged him with smuggling under the Customs Act. Halifax police have also laid charges of possession of child pornography under the Criminal Code.
