Detector Dog Max to retire, welcome to Beau

On October 28, 2016, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced that Edmonton’s detector dog Max retired from the CBSA after eight years of service. Max will be replaced by Beau, a yellow lab who has recently completed his 10-week training.

The Detector Dog Service (DDS) has provided almost 40 years of distinguished service to Canadians and the CBSA has one of Canada’s finest detection dog programs and is internationally recognized for the service’s excellence in canine detection training.

• In his career Max made 310 agricultural interceptions.
• He also assisted in 72 other seizures including undeclared currency, narcotics, jewelry, tobacco and alcohol.
