Canada Border Services Agency closes Deer Island port of entry

News Release

May 11, 2017                         Deer Island, New Brunswick              Canada Border Services Agency

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will close the Deer Island port of entry (POE) in New Brunswick (NB) indefinitely as of May 11, 2017.

The POE exclusively processed traffic from Eastport, Maine (ME) to Deer Island, NB via a ferry service. The ferry service has not operated at the POE since the end of the 2014 season and, as a result, the seasonal POE did not open for the 2015 and 2016 summer seasons.

Travellers wishing to drive from Deer Island, NB to Eastport, ME can continue to use the alternate route from Deer Island to Campobello Island via a 30-minute domestic ferry service followed by a 45‑minute drive (approximately) from Campobello, NB to Eastport, ME.
