NEXUS members can cross the border faster at the Whirlpool Bridge
News Release
November 22, 2017 Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada Border Services Agency/U.S. Customs and Border Protection
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (U.S. CBP) kicked off the Black Friday weekend and the start of the holiday season at the Whirlpool Bridge where NEXUS members can cross the border faster.
The Whirlpool Bridge is a dedicated NEXUS crossing for members only, resulting in minimal to no delays when crossing the border. Connecting Niagara Falls, Ontario and Niagara Falls, New York, the Whirlpool Bridge is located near various tourism, entertainment and shopping destinations with easy access to major highways.
Also, NEXUS holiday travellers and NEXUS hockey fans attending the World Junior Championship tournament can also cross the border faster by using the dedicated NEXUS lanes at the Peace Bridge and when entering Canada at the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge. Check border wait times using the CanBorder or the CBP apps to cross the border at the least busy NEXUS option in the area.
Not a NEXUS member? Apply online today and you can enjoy the benefits of the program for the upcoming 2018 spring break or summer seasons.
Quotes
“The CBSA is committed to Trusted Traveller Programs like NEXUS that ensure low-risk travellers and goods can cross the border quickly. NEXUS members can cross with minimal delays at the Whirlpool Bridge or designated Canada-bound NEXUS lanes at other ports of entry. Although the CBSA continuously monitors its operations to minimize unnecessary delays, we also encourage travellers to download the CanBorder App to help plan your trip and cross at the least busy port of entry in the area.”
Christine Durocher, Executive Director, Southern Ontario Region, CBSA
“CBP strongly encourages all eligible travellers to get NEXUS. Not only does it help save you time at the border, but you get the added benefits of the TSA Pre-Check and Global Entry programs. When traveling this holiday season, be prepared for an increase in traffic, especially surrounding the World Junior Championship hockey tournament being held in Buffalo, NY. CBP is anticipating the increase and taking measures to address it, but it is possible volume may lead to extended wait times at some of our crossing locations. Please be prepared and check CBP’s border wait time app for current border delays.”
Rose Brophy, Director Field Operations, Buffalo Field Office, U.S. CBP
