CBSA announces largest seizure of opium

Delta, British Columbia, December 15, 2022 – The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is committed to keeping Canadian communities safe from illicit drugs. The CBSA invites members of the media to attend the announcement of the largest CBSA seizure of opium to date.

The Honourable Carla Qualtrough, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion will participate in the event on behalf of the Honourable Marco Mendicino, Minister of Public Safety. Members of the media will have the opportunity to interview the Minister, the CBSA and the RCMP, as well as view the seized product.

Media are asked to arrive no later than 10:30 a.m. to register and to have credentials/photo identification available.

All filming, photography and interviews will occur in a controlled environment.
