Canadian delegation to the 2026 United Nations Water Conference 

The Canada Water Agency is leading the coordination of the Canadian delegation to the 2026 United Nations (UN) Water Conference taking place from December 8-10, 2026, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The main objective of the Conference is to: Accelerate the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 6: Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

This year's Conference comes at a critical time, and it is our intent to reinforce Canada’s role as a steward of fresh water at the conference, promote Canadian values and principles such as inclusivity, and emphasize the need to address systemic water risks. As such, the Canada Water Agency is seeking nominations of representatives from water-related non-governmental organizations (NGOs) interested in joining the Canadian delegation.

Invitations will be issued based on standardized eligibility criteria and all members of the delegation will need to adhere to rules of conduct to ensure a unified Canadian delegation, in line with standard practice by the Government of Canada.
