[music]
[Post-it notes of different colors on a white background, with some being damaged, a close-up reveals one that has holes in it]
Man (voice over): Hate is not new, but it is on the rise here in Canada and elsewhere in the world.
[music]
[A line appears on a white background, runs between the post-it notes and transforms into the shapes of a planet Earth.]
Woman (voice over): Whether it’s online, in person, or at our schools, community centres or places of worship.
[The line follows its course and takes the form of a computer, then of a person sitting while holding their face in their hands.]
Man: These are real threats to our sense of safety. We all have the right to feel safe regardless of who we are, what we look like or believe in.
[Line continues to appear on a white background, this time forming the shape of an individual wearing a head-covering.]
Woman: While some people are more at risk of experiencing hate-motivated crimes and incidents, we are all impacted by hate.
[Line becomes the shape of a person who has a cloud of what seems like negative thoughts over their head.]
Man: Hate tears at our sense of community and our sense of belonging.
[The line takes the form of a person sitting alone on the floor holding their knees, at a distance from three people standing together looking down at them.]
Woman: This is why the Government of Canada is launching Canada’s first-ever Action Plan on Combatting Hate.
[The line takes the form of hand on which lies two hearts]
Man: Together, let’s build a safer and more inclusive Canada where everyone can thrive while being their authentic self.
[The line takes the forms of a handshake, then of a group of people raising their fists in a sign of victory among the post-it notes.]
