International association presents Bureau with International Compliance and Ethics Award

August 9, 2016 — OTTAWA, ON — Competition Bureau

The Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics announced today that the Competition Bureau has won a 2016 International Compliance and Ethics Award for its efforts and innovative accomplishments in support of compliance and ethics.

The award recognizes the Bureau’s “commitment to compliance and ethics in organizations, its efforts to promote such programs, and its recognition of compliance and ethics efforts in determining how to treat companies and other organizations.”

Compliance is a key pillar of the Bureau’s approach to enforcement of the Competition Act. Over the past year, the Bureau has significantly increased its compliance promotion efforts by creating a new Compliance Unit, launching the Bureau’s innovative new Corporate Compliance Programs Bulletin, developing a compliance promotion strategy, and sharing best practices in compliance promotion with international counterparts.

In 2016‑2017, the Bureau will continue to advance its compliance initiatives. It has committed to promoting the adoption of corporate compliance programs by engaging in targeted outreach with various audiences across the country, with a particular emphasis on small and medium‑sized businesses.

The 2016 International Compliance and Ethics Award will be presented to the Bureau on September 26, 2016 at the 15th Annual Compliance and Ethics Institute’s International Awards Dinner in Chicago, Illinois.
