Today, the Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs, Carolyn Bennett, was honoured to participate in the opening of the Indian Village at the 2018 Calgary Stampede. The Indian Village has been a major part of the Stampede since 1912 and has promoted and preserved the relationship between the Calgary Stampede and the Blackfoot, Stoney Nakoda and Tsuut’ina Nations.

During the 10 days of the Stampede, visitors are invited to view the tipis, watch the Pow Wow dancing, listen to traditional storytelling, and visit the bannock booth. It is a great way for visitors to experience the traditions and culture of the Blackfoot, Stoney Nakoda and Tsuut’ina Nation firsthand.
