DRDC Ottawa Research Centre
The DRDC Ottawa Research Centre in Ottawa, Ontario is primarily looking for candidates with an undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in electrical engineering. Other related disciplines would be considered, with relevant knowledge and experience. A Master’s degree or Ph.D with a specialization in electrical engineering is an asset.
Experience and knowledge in one or more of the following is an asset:
- practical engineering experience
- experience in radio frequency system development and testing, and knowledge of the design, development, modification, and support of radio frequency equipment
- experience in technical oversight and leadership on engineering projects
- experience in data collection and analysis
- knowledge of communication system principles, techniques, and technology
- knowledge of digital signal processing techniques
- experience with defence equipment procurement, operation, and/or maintenance
- experience in programming with MATLAB, Python, and/or C++
- knowledge of cyber security and computer networking
- project management experience leading and developing project plans that identify project scope, tasks, budgets, resources, and schedule

DRDC Toronto Research Centre
The DRDC Toronto Research Centre in Toronto, Ontario is looking for candidates with an undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in biomechanics/biomedical engineering, human factors, ergonomics, artificial intelligence, neuroscience, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics engineering and applied mathematics. A Master’s degree in any of the above or related disciplines is an asset.
Experience with one or more of the following is an asset:
- experience in providing advice and guidance to stakeholders regarding technical direction and support on engineering and life cycle management projects
- experience in applying engineering principles to interpret standards, regulations, and relevant legislation
- experience in leading and conducting technical studies, investigations, and projects
- project management experience leading and developing project plans that identify project scope, tasks, budgets, resources, and schedule
- experience installing, using, and programming data acquisition software to calibrate scientific instruments and sensors and to collect data and signals from human participants
- experience in scientific data collection including using human participants, with focus on data acquisition hardware and software associated with human experimentation, signal processing, and data storage
- experience with specifying, developing, maintaining, and operating modelling and simulation hardware and software used in testbeds for human experimentation
- experience in analyzing and interpreting data including reporting data in figure and table format using commonly used software (e.g., MATLAB)
- knowledge about human research ethics and the Tri-Council Policy Statement about ethical conduct for research involving humans
