This bar graph shows the Department of Finance Canada’s total actual and planned expenditures, including statutory, voted and sunset program spending, from 2012–13 to 2017–18.

In 2012–13, statutory spending was $82 billion, voted spending was $119 million, and spending for sunset programs was $1.5 billion.

In 2013–14, statutory spending was $83.9 billion, voted spending was $110 million, and spending for sunset programs was $1.5 billion.

In 2014–15, statutory spending was $85.5 billion, voted spending was $120 million, and spending for sunset programs was $53 million.

In 2015–16, statutory spending is $89.5 billion, voted spending is $95 million, and spending for sunset programs is $8 million.

In 2016–17, statutory spending of $94 billion and voted spending of $87 million are planned. There are no sunsetting programs in 2016–17.

In 2017–18, statutory spending of $98.6 billion and voted spending of $87 million are planned. There are no sunsetting programs in 2017–18.
