The Clerk's Call to Action (CTA) Forward Direction
- Set and communicate multi-year hiring and promotion goals
- Measure progress of representation and inclusion goals
- Establish accountability through executive performance and talent management processes
- Promote success drivers
Deputies are also directed to implement six immediate actions pertaining to:
- sponsorship
- recruitment
- official languages
- anti-racism;
- scheduling meetings; and
- employee networks
The CTA leaves discretion for nuanced approaches based on organizational context and the needs of equity-seeking groups.
Actions being undertaken at Finance
Building Capacity
- Hiring of director to build dedicated leadership for equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility.
- Implementing the PSC's bias and barriers staffing program
- Partnering with TBS to provide streamlined and timely accommodation services to all employees
- Planning participation in the new modern, centralized Self Identification Questionnaire
Addressing Hiring Practices
- Developing multi-year EE targets for both EX and non EX staffing
- Ensuring EX PMAs include specific actions to address the Clerk's Call to Action
- Review of University Recruitment with the view to remove barriers that could affect EE groups.
Retention of equity and equity-seeking employees
- Building diverse and inclusive networks at Finance by ensuring intentional sponsorship of EE employees is undertaken by our executives
- Naming new D&I champion and specific network champions (anti-racism, indigenous, positive spaces, persons with disabilities)
