Biographical Notes – Susana May Yon Lee
Backgrounder
Ms. Susana Lee is a lawyer qualified in Ontario, New York, and Washington D.C., and a Certified Customs Specialist with experience in trade remedies, customs, and government procurement matters. In addition, Ms. Lee has expertise with Canada’s trade controls, including export and import controls, economic sanctions, and defense-related controlled goods, as well as on regulatory law matters.
Prior to the start of her term as a member of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, Ms. Lee practiced law as a partner at Cassidy Levy Kent (Canada) LLP. In her legal practice, she has been ranked by Chambers Canada Legal Guide and The Legal 500 in International Trade.
In the legal community, Ms. Lee has served as Chair of the Canadian Bar Association – International Law Section, and she is a former board member of the Ontario Bar Association.
Ms. Lee previously interned with the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, where she focused on various customs issues, such as analyzing tariff classifications and the value for duty of imported goods.
Ms. Lee holds joint Juris Doctor (magna cum laude) and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Ottawa, as well as a Bachelor of Arts and Science (first-class honours) from McGill University.
