Canada, Minister Champagne to chair G7 Finance Ministers’ Meetings in Washington, participate in consequential G20, IMF and World Bank Group meetings

The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Finance and National Revenue, will chair the Fall meeting of G7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors, participate in a G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors' meeting, and attend the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group in Washington D.C. from October 14-16.

The G7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors' Meeting, which Minister Champagne will co-chair with Tiff Macklem, Governor of the Bank of Canada, will be an opportunity to discuss the global economy and advance progress on international issues including Russia’s illegal war against Ukraine. The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yuliia Svyrydenko, and Minister of Finance of Ukraine, Sergii Marchenko, will join for parts of the meeting.

Minister Champagne will chair additional G7 events intended to address current global challenges and opportunities, including an event on Artificial Intelligence, financial crime and fraud, and a G7 outreach session with participants from Africa, the Caribbean and the South Pacific.
