Government of Canada announces judicial appointments in the province of Alberta

The Honourable Jody Wilson-Raybould, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointments:
The Honourable Michelle G. Crighton, a judge of the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench in Edmonton, is appointed a judge of the Alberta Court of Appeal in Edmonton to replace Mr. Justice J. Watson, who elected supernumerary status effective January 1, 2016. She is also appointed a judge of the Court of Appeal for the Northwest Territories and a judge of the Court of Appeal of Nunavut.
The Honourable Jo’Anne Strekaf, a judge of the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench in Calgary, is appointed a judge of the Alberta Court of Appeal in Calgary to replace Mr. Justice P. Martin, who elected supernumerary status effective September 1, 2016. She is also appointed a judge of the Court of Appeal for the Northwest Territories and a judge of the Court of Appeal of Nunavut.
Kevin P. Feehan, Q.C., a partner with Dentons Canada LLP in Edmonton, is appointed a judge of the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench in Edmonton to replace Madam Justice B.A. Browne, who elected supernumerary status effective January 25, 2016.
James T. Eamon, Q.C., a partner with Gowling Canada (formerly Gowling Henderson Lafleur LLP) in Calgary, is appointed a judge of the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench in Calgary to replace Madam Justice B.E. Romaine, who elected supernumerary status effective January 1, 2016.
Jolaine Antonio, appellate counsel with Alberta Justice in Calgary, is appointed a judge of the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench in Calgary to replace Madam Justice R.E. Nation, who elected supernumerary status effective July 1, 2016.
George Fraser, Q.C., a prosecutor with Alberta Justice in Edmonton, is appointed a judge of the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench in Edmonton to replace Madam Justice D.C. Read, who elected supernumerary status effective March 1, 2016.
Bonnie Bokenfohr, interim executive director for the Edmonton Police Commission, is appointed a judge of the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench in Edmonton to replace Mr. Justice D. Lee, who elected supernumerary status effective September 6, 2016.
These appointments are effective immediately.
