Human Trafficking Project Descriptions

July 30, 2026 – Dartmouth, Nova Scotia — Department of Justice Canada

Nine organizations across Canada will receive over $3.35 million in funding over three fiscal years (2026-2029) through the Department of Justice Canada.  These investments support projects that help prevent human trafficking, improve services for victims and survivors, and protect people who may be at greater risk of being trafficked or exploited.

Funding is being provided for the following projects, in alphabetical order:

Angels of Hope Against Human Trafficking
Sudbury, ON
Project name: Increasing access to justice for French-speaking survivors of human trafficking and gender-based violence
Project description: This project is providing socio-legal support services in French to Francophone survivors of gender-based violence and human trafficking – including virtual counseling and peer support groups nation-wide.
Funding amount: $85,640

CEASE - Centre to End All Sexual Exploitation
Edmonton, AB
Project name: Bridge to Safety: Trauma-Informed Digital Outreach and Prevention Services for Victims and Survivors of Sex and Labour Trafficking
Project description: The project is offering the first trauma-informed digital outreach and prevention model in Alberta, designed to identify and support individuals trafficked online or through deceptive labour recruitment.

Project name: Alternative to the Sex Industry Program
Project description: This project is offering guidance, assistance, and support to women in the Montreal area who wish to leave the sex industry or who are victims of sexual exploitation, in order to regain good psychological and financial health, and acquire the skills necessary to take control of their lives.
Funding amount: $463,584

London Abused Women’s Centre
London, ON
Project name: Journey to Justice: Anti-Human Trafficking Case Manager Program
Project description: This project is supporting survivors of sex trafficking as they navigate the complexities of the criminal justice system. This includes trauma-informed, survivor-centered advocacy and support to survivors through every stage of the legal process—from initial contact with police services to court proceedings and post-court support.
Funding amount: $269,810

New Opportunities for Women (NOW) Canada Society
Kelowna, BC
Project name: The Essentials Program
Project description: This project is offering immediate safe and supported housing, a four-month life-skills program and individualized case planning and client support for victims and survivors of human trafficking, sexual exploitation, abuse and addictions.
Funding amount: $450,000

Réseau-Femmes Du Sud-Ouest De L'Ontario
Windsor, ON
Project name: Justice and Freedom
Project description: This project is specifically targeting the Francophone minority community, aiming to equip them with the tools to deal with human trafficking by providing tailored support and resources.
Funding amount: $312,728

Sexual Violence New Brunswick
Fredericton, NB
Project name: Building Momentum: A Strategic, Provincial Approach to Addressing Sex Trafficking
Project description: This project is providing their Sex Trafficking Response Training to build a formalized network of service providers and responders to better support those affected by sex trafficking.
Funding amount: $437,426

Project name: Stepping Stone Comprehensive Victim Support Program
Project description: This project is providing a comprehensive victim support program to deliver programs and individualized support plans for victims and survivors of human trafficking that focus on personal and professional development and support positive long-term outcomes.
Funding amount: $450,000
