Safety for the community is more important than the desires of individuals or unit driver requirements. As Department of National Defence (DND) drivers share the road with other drivers on a daily bases, it is imperative that new drivers in the Canadian Armed Forces receive the best training possible and understand how to respond to unforeseen events. 3 CDSG Tech Svcs, following a long and proud tradition of instructing the instructors, brought in 3 CDSG Tech Svcs Tn Pl Roads & Vehicle Safety Section to teach the next generation of vehicle instructors. This partnership provided the opportunity to pass on the professional habits and experience that all good drivers should possess.

The Driver Instructor/Driver Examiner course consists of three days of learning and practising being an in-cab instructor, and two days of learning and practising being an in-cab examiner. As Driver Instructors, they are shown many different techniques to instruct a wide range of student with various learning styles. Instructors learn to ensure that all information has been retained by candidates using time-tested best practices to gain the required results when completing the follow-ups.

Driver Examiners play a key role in the base/unit collision prevention program. They carry a large share of responsibility for ensuring that only technically competent and knowledgeable personnel are permitted to operate DND vehicles. Because of the importance of this program and their role, the highest quality training is required for successful execution.

Driver Instructor/Driver Examiner candidates are selected for their professionalism, knowledge and mature nature. This course is one of the most crucial courses in the transport world as it allows the passage of knowledge and experience gained, as well as transmission of lessons learned from one generation to be passed on to the next. This in turn creates safer roads, both here at home in Canada and abroad.

Bravo Zulu to all successful candidates, instructors and trusted partners from this serial of the Driver Instructor/Driver Examiner course. Nos Activare, Servitium Nulli Secundus!
