What we do

The Assistant Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Environment provides real property, infrastructure and environmental services to support the objectives of the Department of National Defence. We also meet Canadian Armed Forces infrastructure needs to support a sustainable modern military.

Specific roles

We manage the largest real property portfolio in the federal government:

  • over $26 billion worth in infrastructure assets across the country
  • approximately 20,000 buildings
  • 12,000 military housing units
  • 16,000 works (such as sewers and pipelines)
  • 2.1 million hectares of land
