Hello, I’m Corporal Luke Weaver at Canadian Forces Station Alert and I’m here to take the 60 seconds Challenge.
Question 1: “What’s the coolest part of your job (no pun intended)?”
The coolest part of my job is being able to travel. Here I am, in Alert. Grew up on Vancouver Island and posted to Ontario. Not much cooler than that.
“What’s the last book that you read?”
I have a textbook on geothermal heat pumps actually.
“What’s your typical work day look like?”
Up here, it’s an administration position so I handle the accommodation management for people coming in and out of the station and pretty much whatever else my SO asks me to do.
“If you had the opportunity to visit Mars, would you go?”
Absolutely, I would go! I don’t know about a one-way trip, but would definitely check it out.
“What is the best thing about being deployed to CFS Alert?”
By far, the people. It’s a very close-knit group. Very few of us and most people are here for six months so you grow really, really tight bonds.
