Hi, I'm Commodore Daniel Bouchard and I'm the Commander of the Canadian Armed Forces Transition Group and I'm here to take on the 60 Second challenge.
What is the new military to civilian transition process?
It is a personalized, professional, and standardized approach where a transition advisor leads you to develop a plan across seven domains of well-being.
What does leadership mean to you?
Essentially, it's enabling the team for them to succeed.
Why is military to civilian transition important?
It's really about looking after our personnel and making sure that them and their families have a successful transition.
When will the new transition process be available to all CAF personnel?
The team is working very hard to be able to be at full operational capability by March of 2024.
What is the biggest lesson you've learned throughout your career?
Inclusivity and interpersonal relationships to get the mission done.
What is the best piece of advice you can give to transitioning CAF members?
Learn and plan for it, be ready to execute that plan.
Does transition mean the end of your career in the Forces?
Not necessarily, you can also do a transition into different occupations or you can do a component transition.
That's it.
