Sgt Stephanie Nevell: "What would you say to someone who tells you they don't floss?"
I would tell them to floss only the teeth they want to keep.
I'm Sergeant Stephanie Nevell. I'm a Dental Technician here working at the Carling Campus Dental Clinic, and I'm going to do the 60 Second Challenge.
"Why did you decide to become a Dental Technician for the CAF?"
I wanted more opportunities to travel and a career that offered more career development options. As well as, of course, the benefits and pension.
"What song would be the soundtrack to your life?"
"I Can't Feel my Face" by "The Weeknd".
"What is the favourite part of your job?"
Definitely the variety and the people. You could be doing clinical work, laboratory work, working with finance, human resources… And of course, the people.
"And how do you become a Dental Technician?"
Two options. The Direct Entry Program for those that are already trained as a Dental Tech… Dental Assistant. And the NCM STEP program.
"What kind of skills do you need to become a Dental Technician?"
I would say soft skills. You need to be very well-organized, have great attention to detail, and have the capability of displaying empathy for your patients."
