Maj Foster: Okay, this is harder than you think.

Maj Foster: Hi, I’m Major Andrew Foster, I’m with 1 Wing Headquarters. Today we’re doing Operation HO HO HO, and this is the 60 Second Challenge.

What is your favourite holiday tradition?

My father reads us “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” on Christmas Eve.

How and when did Op HO HO HO start?

Started in 2005 in Borden with 400 Squadron.

Which is faster, Santa’s sleigh or the Griffon helicopter?

Definitely Santa’s sleigh.

Are there any other squadrons participating in Op HO HO HO across Canada?

Yes. 400 Squadron in Borden and 408 Squadron in Edmonton.

What is your favourite Christmas carol?

The Little Drummer Boy.

What’s the best part about participating in Op HO HO HO?

Being able to see that we’re able to bring a bit of joy to the kids at Christmas time who are still spending the holidays in the hospital.

How was 1 Wing able to raise money to purchase these toys?

So, they solicited some donations from everyone within the Headquarters and we were able to buy the toys that way.

Home Alone or The Grinch?

Home Alone for sure.

What does Op HO HO HO represent for 1 Wing and the RCAF?

It gives us a chance to give back to the community and to spread a bit of Christmas cheer to those who are spending time in the hospital over the holiday season.

And that is 60 seconds. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
