*Credits Roll*
Good morning. I’m Brigadier-General Virginia Tattersall, the Director General Compensation Benefits, and I’m here to take the 60 Second Challenge.
How long do CAF members need to serve before being eligible for their pension?
Two years pensionable service to get an unreduced at age 60, or 20 years in order to get an immediate annuity.
What is the most significant lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?
Time passes, which means that so do hard things and hard times.
Who is someone in your life that has really influenced you?
My father. He served himself, and he was always a mentor to me.
What has motivated you to stay for so long?
The people, the opportunities, and the work. Because I love it.
Can you briefly explain your responsibilities?
I’m responsible for the remuneration of CAF members for their service.
What does leadership mean to you?
Leadership to me is that you inspire people, that you unite them, that you motivate them to do the things they don’t want, and you, as a leader, make hard decisions, take responsibility, and above all, you walk the talk.
What is one specific benefit that you wish CAF members knew more about?
Their pension. You won’t appreciate it when you’re young, but let me tell you, when you’re older you certainly will.
