Why did you decide to join the CAF?

I was sixteen, didn’t really know what I wanted to do. I knew I liked camping, and the Army is camping with guns, so decided to do that.

Hi, I’m Corporal Ajo from The Toronto Scottish Regiment. I’m here on the C7 Range to shoot PWT2, and I’m here to do the 60 Second Challenge as well.

Where are you going for your first deployment?

I’m going to Latvia. More specifically, Ādaži.

Explain your trade in the CAF.

I’m a Reserve Infanteer. When we’re not on the range shooting, we’re in the shacks mopping.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given?

Don’t lose your personality.

How are you preparing for your first deployment?

Going on tour as a sentry.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Definitely those desserts at the end of the meal line on course.

How long have you been a CAF member?

As of yesterday, three years, and it’s been pretty good.

If you could try any trade in the CAF for a day, what would it be?

Definitely MedTech or Combat Medic. Just to have the training to be able to save lives.

What has been your favourite part of preparing for deployment?

The change in lifestyle. Being able to go to the gym every day for free, the free food, it’s been pretty good.
