Hi, I'm Naval Cadet Ko. I'm the captain of the sailing team, and we're here to do 60 seconds.
First question: have you been able to travel anywhere for sailing competitions as an athlete at RMC?
I have. We traveled to Vancouver, we traveled to Montreal, we traveled to Toronto. So there's lots of opportunities to travel lots of places with the sailing team.
Why are athletics important at RMC?
I think it's important because it allows you to explore your interests a little bit more. It's important to get out at RMC and explore what you enjoy doing, and athletics is one of the ways that you can do that and just become more involved in the life of the college.
What skills you gain from sailing that will be beneficial to your career?
I think one of the main ones is teamwork. When we're sailing, we're always sailing as a team. So normally we sail with two people, do a boat, sometimes with four people, do a boat, and so you really work on your teamwork and communication skills, going going through sailing like that.
What are you most looking forward to in your future CAF career?
So I'm a Naval Warfare officer once I graduate RMC, and I'm looking to incorporate my enjoyment of being out in the water into my career in the future.
What am I studying at RMC?
I'm studying political science, and I'm also doing a minor in in history.
