MCpl Corey Young, Electronic Warfare Operator
Do you want me to squat down? Is this a good look?
I'm MCpl Young. I'm a Mobile Electronic Warfare Team Operator at 21 Electronic Warfare Regiment, and this is “60 Seconds With”.
“What's one important quality of an EW Operator?”
It is adaptability. You have to learn how to use new systems and technologies all the time.
“Who has been the most influential person in your life and career?”
That would be my father. I've seen the example that he gave for being a soldier for 30 years and make me want to do the same.
“How long does it take to become an EW Operator after signaler training?”
I would say roughly one to two years.
“What makes a good leader?”
Communication. Your subordinates should be able to come and approach you and talk to you, and then you should be able to go and approach them and talk to them.
“Would you rather be a poor superhero or a rich super villain?”
I would rather be a rich super villain because Lex Luthor is cooler than Superman.
“What's the coolest thing about being an EW Operator?”
You get to see a bigger picture of the battle space during exercise and deployment.
“And how do you maintain your mental health?”
I practice martial arts and jiu-jitsu.
And that's “60 Seconds With”.
