Fifteen companies from five countries demonstrated and tested their leading-edge counter drone systems at the IDEaS Sandbox in May and June 2024 at DRDC Suffield in Alberta.
Innovators showcased the art of the possible in counter drone technology to the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces.
With the funding, with the support, with the testing facilities the IDEaS program provides, it helps the companies bring their innovation within Canada quickly, and it helps the industry, it helps the companies, it helps the end users, it helps the IDEaS program itself.
That’s one of the best things about coming out and doing field testing, you get more time on the system in real world scenarios…what’s been great is just listening to the observers at the event and getting their feedback from real world situations that they’ve seen and they’ve dealt with, and them have them give us that feedback so that we can actually design and improve the system.
The IDEaS program is looking to identify the new game-changing technologies that are up and coming, what the current state of the art is, and we’re also looking to identify where the gaps are, where we can invest additional funds in order to really progress this technology into something that is good for the next generation of drones.
