Our team is here as part of [exercise] SUPER GARUDA SHIELD so that we can build international relations with the Indonesian National Armed Forces and other allied forces participating in the exercise.
We’ve learned a lot from our international partners so far; we know that we come here with a lot of experience from what we go through in training in Canada, but there’s a lot of training that the other allied forces here develop in such a different environment than we do.
Being able to build on what we have with their current knowledge makes it so much better to achieve that overall mission.
Currently we’re working on a tank trail that is going to be used for the exercise. It was, before, just some marsh, some mud, some very unprepared surface for what the troop tanks would be using for exercise. Not only that, but there’s locals around here, who you can hear even behind me, who have a lot of villages nearby. And they’re going to be using that same road to be going back and forth, and that just makes their transportation so much easier.
